Dr. Pascual-Leone is a world leader in neurotechnology and brain plasticity, a dedicated teacher and mentor, and a practicing cognitive neurologist specialized in dementia care. 

 

Thomson Reuters has recognized him as one of the “World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds”. Research.com has recognized him as a “Best Scientist” and “Neuroscience Leader”. He has been honored with many international awards, is Doctor Honoris Causa at the Univ of Cordoba (Medicine) and the Univ Politécnica de Madrid (Engineering), a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and of the American Neurological Association, and an elected member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Science.

 

He has authored over 900 scientific papers and several books. He holds 20 issued patents for various methods for noninvasive brain stimulation and modulation, and digital biomarkers of cognition, behavior and brain health. His work is highly cited (google scholar h-index 192; i10-index 788), and has gained wide general public appeal and outreach through dissemination in articles in the lay press (e.g., Time, Newsweek, National Geographic), television and radio documentaries (e.g., Scientific American, 60 minutes, CNN, BBC, Nova, El Hormiguero, etc.), and several books (e.g., N. Doidge, The Brain That Changes Itself; J. E. Robison, Switched On). He co-authored, with A. Fernandez and D. Bartres-Faz, El Cerebro que Cura (2019) published by Plataforma Editorial.

 

In addition to his academic work, in 2019 Dr. Pascual-Leone co-founded and became Chief Medical Officer of Linus Health ( https://linushealth.com ), a start-up company harnessing mobile and ambient technologies to apply machine learning and AI to advance the detection of brain conditions well before symptoms appear, and to deploy interventions that might prevent or minimize brain-related disabilities and empower individuals maintain brain health. In 2020, Dr. Pascual-Leone also co-founded TI Solutions, A.G. ( https://temporalinterference.com ) to develop a novel method for noninvasive brain stimulation to selectively target deep brain nuclei.
